Our Mission

Alliance for Paseo Park is a resident-led non-profit organization dedicated to the complete transformation of Jackson Heights’ 34th Avenue into a permanent public park.

Formed by a diverse group of community members, Alliance for Paseo Park works directly with partners at the City of New York to ensure all who live, work, and move in Jackson Heights have access to safe, sustainable, and welcoming greenspace. As a steward of Paseo Park, Alliance for Paseo Park leads both the physical development and the long-term advocacy necessary to sustain this once-in-a-generation investment in public space.

About Us

Paseo Park – A 26-block open street along 34th Avenue from 69th Street to Junction Boulevard – emerged organically out of a collective need for safe gathering space and community connection in the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since then, Alliance for Paseo Park has worked toward permanently transforming this network of open spaces into a celebrated new park. The successful completion of Paseo Park as a 1.3-mile park will drastically increase neighborhood-wide access to greenspace, provide critical climate infrastructure, and ensure the Jackson Heights community has the space it deserves to sit, stroll, bike, run, play, and connect.

Together with our City partners and neighbors, Alliance for Paseo Park is forging a safer, healthier, and more joyful future for Jackson Heights and all New Yorkers.

Alliance for Paseo Park was founded in 2023. It was previously known as Friends of 34th Avenue Linear Park, whose members first organized in support of the creation of the open street in March 2020. Board Members are: Josefina Bahamondes, Ondine Crispin, Alex Florez, Salmaan Khan, Luz Maria Mercado, Dawn Siff, Myrna Tinoco, Amber White.
